What You Need To Know About Photography For Your Ecommerce Based Business

Blog

Businesses selling clothing and fashion items are constantly competing with other retailers and vendors. While eCommerce retailers may find that they have a larger audience, they are disadvantaged because they do not have a showroom or storefront for customers to visit. The eCommerce fashion photography you use to market the items online is critical and is often the only place your customers see the items they are interested in before making a purchase.

Choosing A Photographer

When your eCommerce business is looking for a photographer to capture images of products, it is vital that you find someone with experience that understands eCommerce photography. A simple, flat picture of the items you have for sale is not enough, and the photographer needs to show the product so that it stands out amongst the competition.

ECommerce fashion photography often involves a model and a location that will catch your customer's eye. Sometimes using photography locations that are unexpected can create a contrast between the product and the location that adds more to the item and makes the viewer more interested even though the item you are selling has not changed.

Clothing lines use this type of eCommerce fashion photography all the time, and a photographer that has experience with it can help you choose locations and create scenes that are impactful for your product line.

Photo Studio Shoots

Inventory can change frequently with businesses selling a limited number of items, so when you need to create new product images in a hurry, you may need to have eCommerce fashion photography done in a studio setting. There are some advantages to using a studio, and one that is well-equipped can offer you the ability to change the look and feel of the product images to keep your photography fresh and new.

It is not uncommon for eCommerce retailers to have a photographer on staff and a small photo studio in their space for eCommerce fashion photography sessions that happen quickly to get the products they sell ready for listing as rapidly as possible. Lighting, set design, and the quality of the final photographs is critical, and, for many businesses, is the first thing that attracts clients.

Photography can help develop consistency in the brand and make your website or online store stand out. If your product is unique and handmade, your eCommerce fashion photography needs to show that to your potential customers and offer them some idea of what they are buying from you.

Set the stage, create an expectation, and use eCommerce photography to excite customers and keep them returning to your store regularly. Eventually, they will find the item they are looking for, and the time you spend working with a photographer and model to get those images will pay off.

The Ocean and Photography: My Two Loves Combined

Ever since my parents allowed me to snap a few photos on their camera on vacation when I was a young child, I have loved photography. While we lived in the Midwest, I became hooked on taking photographs of the ocean and boats when we visited the Florida coast during one of our trips together. I found that just being near the ocean really made me happy, and after we returned home, I was able to "take the ocean with me" to experience that same feeling by taking photos of it. Being near the ocean is so calming and uplifting, but most people don't live near the coasts and don't get to experience its beauty every day. I now live by the ocean, so I decided to create a blog to share my tips about how you can best photograph the things you love.
